TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – The glow of happiness and enthusiasm radiated from the hundreds of Hajj pilgrims of Cluster 6 from Palembang as they arrived at the Amir Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz Airport (AMAA) in Madinah in the middle of the night on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Among them, two middle-aged figures caught everyone's attention: Nasrun (90) and Sahari (80).

Nasrun, with his genuine smile, remained spirited despite having to use a cane as he walked through Gate Zero of AMAA Airport in Madinah.

His determination in embarking on the pilgrimage journey from Palembang to the Holy Land did not escape the notice of the attentive officers who offered wheelchair assistance.

Although initially reluctant, Nasrun eventually agreed to use the wheelchair for the sake of his health. As he was pushed towards the bus, Nasrun shared how he had to wait for 6 years since his registration in 2018 to be able to perform Hajj.

Nasrun's Hajj funds were accumulated from savings over 25 years, with deposits ranging from Rp1 million to Rp5 million per year.

"I've been saving money for that long (25 years), sometimes it's Rp1 million, sometimes Rp5 million. Sometimes, I couldn't save at all," he said with sincerity.

His enthusiasm remained unwavering as Nasrun hoped for a smooth Hajj pilgrimage this year, bringing blessings to all pilgrims and officers. He also expressed gratitude to the dedicated Hajj officers.

Meanwhile, Sahari, another Hajj pilgrim from Kabupaten Pagar Alam, showed his perseverance by choosing to walk instead of using a wheelchair.

Working as a coffee farmer like Nasrun, Sahari had to save for 10 years before being able to register for Hajj in 2012.

"With patience and perseverance, my wife and I finally made it to the Holy Land this year," he said gratefully.

These two inspirational stories reflect patience, perseverance, and sincerity in performing the Hajj pilgrimage.

May their spiritual journey be filled with blessings and success, serving as inspiration for many to pursue their dreams with strong determination. (*)
