Local Youth of Sidoarjo Doing Service Community During 1 Abad NU

TIMESINDONESIA, SIDOARJO – The hectic and excitement of NU community to join 1 Abad NU, the celebration of 100 years of Nahdlatul Ulama community will leave some good memory. However, it can't be denied that it also leaves bad impressions with the number of trashes pile up anywhere.

And seeing this, the high school local students of SMK YPM5, Sidoarjo give their hand to clean the surrounding area. Together with their teachers these students walk out from their class and used their time in class to do this community service.

They roam around Gelora Stadium, Sidoarjo and pick all the trash they spotted. "It's our own ideas. We do it today. We have been here since morning, around 9 a.m.,"  Siti Masula, one of the students of SMK YPM5 said during her community service on Tuesday (7/2/2023). 

Another students also spotted appealing the NU community to keep their trash in a plastic bag or in their bag for a while and move it into the trash can when they see it. They sweep all the area and help the government to clean the venue. 

"I hope that they have a will to keep their own trash and whenever they came out (of the the stadium) they could move it to the nearest trash can," Ummu Khoiriyah Hanum, another student of SMK YPM5 said. 

Before the 1 Abad NU was started, the local government of Sidoarjo has appealed everyone with zero trash program. It was expected that the participants who join this event wiling to keep the venue clean during the occasion.
