TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Having a good vision is one of the most important things to prioritize, as your eyesight is one of the most vital senses. Foods that you consume can help you maintain your eyes healthy. And that might be a crucial key for this issue. 

There are many kinds of healthy food to promote you to have a good vision, such as carrots, tomatoes, oranges, and green vegetables. However, you may also consume other kinds of foods to make your vision better. 

What foods are the best for us to consume to maintain our eye health?

2. Lean meats and lean poultry

This food includes chicken breast is a great source of zinc. Zinc is known to be effective in promoting long term healthy eyes. Zinc may delay the progression of age-related macular degeneration. 

3. Fish

Fish is also one of the best foods to consume for a healthy eyes. Fish meat, such as tuna, mackerel, salmon, anchovy, and sardine are valuable sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Many researches have shown that fish oil that is rich in omega-3 can cure dry eyes. 

4. Dairy products

Dairy products such as milk and yogurt are also best for our healthy eyes. Dairy products contain a high level of vitamin A that can protect our cornea. In addition, dairy products also contain zinc that can transport vitamins from the liver to the eyes. Zinc is also important to help improve night vision and prevent cataract. 

5. Oysters

Last but not least, oysters can be a great source of zinc for good vision. Zinc can optimize melanin production, the natural pigment meant for eye protection. In fact, zinc deficiency can lead to nyctalopia (night blindness) and cataract. High dosage of zinc may also be known to be effective in delaying the early stage of age-related macular degeneration.

  • Avoid staring at a computer or phone screen for too long, as it may cause eyestrain, blur vision, dry eyes, and headaches.
