TIMESINDONESIA, MAKKAH – In the rich tapestry of Islamic traditions, Hajj stands as one of the most profound acts of worship, obligating Muslims to undertake a pilgrimage to the sacred city of Mecca at least once in their lifetime, provided they are physically and financially capable.

However, certain circumstances may prevent some believers from fulfilling this obligation. This will lead them to Badal Hajj. In such cases, Badal Hajj, or Hajj by Proxy, offers a solution rooted in compassion and communal responsibility.

What is Badal Hajj?

Badal Hajj allows one individual to perform the pilgrimage to Mecca on behalf of another who is unable to undertake the journey themselves due to valid reasons such as illness, advanced age, or financial constraints. This act exemplifies the spirit of solidarity within the Muslim community, ensuring that all believers have the opportunity to partake in the spiritual benefits of Hajj.

Eligible Groups for Badal Hajj and How It will be Conducted

Individuals who passed away while in the Hajj Embarkation Camps or during the journey to Saudi Arabia, or before the crucial ritual of standing at Mount Arafat. Pilgrims who are incapacitated due to illness and cannot perform the essential rituals of Hajj. Individuals experiencing mental health disturbances rendering them incapable of performing the pilgrimage rituals.

Following the completion of the pilgrimage, the officials sign a declaration confirming the fulfillment of their duties.
