Cold Weather Hits Indonesia, Maybe Is It The Cause?

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Cold weather has covered several parts of Indonesia in the past few days. Like what has happened in Bandung areas, East Java. According to Weather Forecasters Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Council (BMKG) Bandung City, Jadi Handarmin, the cause of the cold weather in several areas in Indonesia due to the fast wind from Australia enters to Indonesia areas.
“Actually the temperature is no that cold 17,2 degree celcius. But because the wind blow quite fast from Australia, it’s the impact of a high pressure center, from west Australia areas and burst in to north areas, then to Indonesia. So the impact is that the temperature is very cold, "said So as reported by Pikiran Rakyat.

Besides Bandung, one of the regions that get the worst impact of the extreme weather is in Dieng Pleateu, Banjarnegera, East Java. It have been several days now, every morning, Dieng areas always have a pale face because of the gust of ice dew which the people call it as bun upas (poison dew).
Head of Banjarnegara Geophysics Station, Setyoajie Parayudhi said, the cause of the dew come down to the Dienag areas because the extreme temperature that down until 5 degrees celcius on todays. The decrease of the significant temperature according to Sotyoajie affected by the summer.
"Climatologically, the peak of the dry season occurs in July and August, where the winds are stronger and more dominant. The winds from Australia are dry and cold," he explained, as quoted by Kompas.
On summer, continue Setyojie, the chance of rain is very small, because there is not much cloud cover that has the potential to rain. So that the solar thermal energy reflected from the earth is immediately lost to the atmosphere.
"This condition, if it happens continuously, causes the air to cool, which can cause water vapor or mbun to become frozen or bun upas, this condition will continue until the peak of the dry season in August," he said.
Meanwhile, extreme weather was also experienced by Cilacap residents. Head of BMKG Cilacap Meteorological Station Technician Group Teguh Wardoyo said, in the climate record obtained by the Cilacap Meteorological Station, from 1975 to 2018, the lowest or minimum temperature record occurred on August 14, 1994. At that time a minimum temperature of 17.4 degrees Celsius and temperature was recorded. The maximum is only 25.8 degrees Celsius and an average of 22.9 degrees Celsius.
“Nowadays the temperature recorded is about19 degrees celcius, it means the minimum is not as extreme as in 1994 ago. But it has changed, it's colder and clearly not the same as the usual days, it’s because we are entering the summer ,”he said.
Meanwhile, BMKG forecasters of Bandung City, Yuni Yulianti predicts, low air temperatures or cold weather in the dry season will occur until September. When entering the transition season, the air temperature will be higher. (*)
