TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTAGoogle Maps released several updates to improve the experience of users in trying out digital maps. For example, the addition of a battery status to the "location sharing" feature, as well as restaurant recommendations for the user.

Well, Google Maps releases its new look closing this week. If the user usually sees a map in two dimensions (2D), it is now in three dimensions (3D) or called "3D Globe Mode".

The Verge page informs that Google Maps of has used the Mercator projection up to now, so that the planet's appearance in the application looks flat. This setting makes it easy to display maps on the screen and becomes a standard view of map applications.

With this projection, objects around the equator will be on a relative scale, while objects that are closer to the poles will appear larger.

For example, on maps that use Mercator, Greenland looks bigger than Africa. In fact, Africa is really 14 times bigger than Greenland.
