Purwaningsih Sutiarti: MotoGP 2021 in Kuta Mandalika Can Trigger the Tourism Development in Lombok

TIMESINDONESIA, MATARAM – The politician from Partai Golkar, Purwaningsih Sutiarti, stated that deciding Kuta Mandalika as the location for MotoGP 2021 could trigger the tourism development in Lombok.

Purwaningsih stated that this perfect moment should be used to improve the society welfare in tourism sector. “This could give a huge effect to the tourism development, as well as to improve the society welfare. The society should not only be the audience,” said Purwaningsing to TIMES Indonesia on Monday (25/02/2019).

Purwaningsih said that one MotoGP event is estimated to be participated by more than 100 thousands of tourists. This is a positive opportunity that should be managed for the sake of society welfare.

According to her, the benefits should not be only for tourism industries and big companies, but also all of the parts of the society. “We should get the society prepared for this, such as by developing this tourism village,” said the DPR (People’s Representative Council) Legislative Candidate of the DPR from Partai Golkar.

According to her, the tourism village could be an alternative tourism destination in Lombok at the future time, knowing the fact that the current tourism trend is ‘Back to Nature’. The foreign tourists like to have vacations in places where they could feel the socio-cultural aspect from the local society.

“This tourism village should explore its own potential. It has beautiful nature, cultures, and handicrafts and UMKM (SMEs),” she said.

The role of the government, especially Government Tourism Office, is really necessary in order to create more innovations for the tourism village. Therefore, the tourists will spread in all over tourism destinations instead of only one place. “In this tourism village, the residents could manage the homestays from now on,” she said.

According to Purwaningsih Sutiarti, the development of a certain region should aim to improve its society welfare, just like the construction of MotoGP 2021 circuit in the tourism area of Kuta Mandalika in Lombok. (*)
