Yogyakarta Proposed to be Smart City as The Future of Urban Development

TIMESINDONESIA, YOGYAKARTA – The local government of Yogyakarta committed to make their city to become a smart city by adding several modern platforms to ease the community as well the tourist.
"We need to support this program for the sake of Yogyakarta so it could competed in this modern era," the ex Chairman Association of The Indonesian Tours & Travel Agencies (Asita) Yogyakarta Chapter, Edwin Ismedi Himna said (01/13/2019).

Meanwhile, he also emphasized that the government need to socialize the program and also prepare the local human resources to be ready with the new digital age. This surely will give an effect to local community especially on the economic sector.
The smart city program was started since 2017 in Yogyakarta. It is planned to cover all area including smart government, branding, environment, living, society, and economy.
Several website and applications related to he city's need such as Jogja Smart Service (JSS) which ease the community to monitor, complain, and get services from demographic affairs and the Jogja Bike started to be operated.
The government also signed an MoU with the local gas company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) in order to maximize the use of biogas for the local community.
All their effort was answered by granting some award in the "Smart City Award" by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics. All the applications provided makes the local community of Yogyakarta and the tourists could access all the thing they need with only using their smartphone.(*)
