This Handmade Ship and Boat Miniature is Such a Perfect Toy for Your Kids

TIMESINDONESIA, BANYUWANGI – There have been lots of company has to close their business which make lots of people lost their job during the pandemic. Yet, Supangkat one of an employee that has been sent home from his job by this boss makes ship and boat miniature to help him survive this hard time.

Supangkat which lives at Jalan Ternate No. 17, Lateng, Banyuwangi, East Java has to stay at home since June 2020 after being sent home by his company. “I can’t just stay still and watch my family starving, that’s why I decided to make these miniatures,” Supangkat said on Tuesday (18/8/2020).

This 64 year old guy has never made ship miniature before. But his years of life experience working on a dock have made him remember every inch of the detail of the ship. Before the pandemic, this guy works as civil servant at PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry.

After retired, he works at one private ferry company in Banyuwangi. Yet, he quit his job after the pandemic struck the country. “My job was my inspiration. And I learned the process from YouTube,” he added.

Supangkat made the miniature from unused cardboard that he got from the nearest shop. He draws the structure and cut the cardboard into pieces. He assembles it with superglue and paints it with certain color.

Meanwhile, this Banyuwangi guy could finish a ship or boat miniature within 4 – 10 days depends on the size of the ship. He planned to made another ship and boat miniature from fiber or plywood to increase the quality.(*)
