Gubug Serut was initially developed by a group of nine fishermen community members. Slamet, the leader of the fishermen community said that initially, they built small huts around the stream of Kaligarang River.

“Those huts’ original purpose was as the resting place for the fishermen in the community,” said Yudi Prasetyo to the crew of TIMES Indonesia, Sunday (4/10/2020).

This idea grew into a decision. The community worked together to build more huts around the stream as an addition to the existing ones.

Now, many visitors start to show interest and enthusiasm for this new tourism spot. There are hundreds of daily visitors enjoying the beauty of this place. Only IDR2,000 for the parking fee, there is no additional entrance fee to get into this place. Visitors can also rent a buoy tire for swimming for IDR5,000.

Besides its natural beauty, this place also develops the culinary sector. Semarang original delicacy, such as gendar pecel is also available for IDR5,000. There are also many variations of drinks, such as young coconut ice, tamarind turmeric drink, and so on.

Yudi said there will be more huts soon and they will build public facilities, such as the prayer room and toilet.

“This area is completely under the management and development of the locals, without any government intervention,” he said.

Meanwhile, a tourist, Anjarani (20) is content with the development of this new tourism destination. She thinks that Gubug Serut is a perfect destination for refreshing both the mind and the body with a wide variety of activities available.
