As rice has become staple food for the country, the locals have tons of way in cooking this food. We have Nasi Liwet, a traditional Indonesian way to cook your rice.
Nasi Liwet is a traditional way of cooking your rice in a pot or kettle with some additional ingredients. There are two popular way of cooking nasi liwet, the Nasi Liwet Solo and Nasi Liwet Sunda. Both has different fragrance but blasting taste.

To make Nasi Liwet Solo, you will need some rice, coconut milk, salt, and bay leaf. Make sure you have enough water for the rice to grow in the kettle. Put all the ingredients in the kettle and cook it till the water gone.
The all the ingredients will bring your rice to another level. As in Solo, this rice will be served with some tasty condiments such as shredded chicken in curry, thick Javanese coconut milk gravy the local known as ‘areh’ and chayote in spicy curry.
Meanwhile, for Nasi Liwet Sunda, they will use some additional ingredients other than those used in Nasi Liwet Solo. They will add some salted fish or dry anchovy and local basils to make it more tasty and has a strong nice fragrance.
