TIMESINDONESIA, PACITAN – East java surely has some surprises when it comes their tourist destinations. Most of them are just average but some of them are deadly satisfying. One of them is Gua Gong or Gong Cave. This place offers a stunning beauty of its stalagmites and stalactites.

Located in Pacitan, East java, those stalactites and stalagmites are not only stunning. They could produce some sounds like an instrument. As for your information, the name of the cave was taken from a traditional Javanese instrument named Gong.

The cave was founded by two local community named Mbah Joyo and Mbah Noyo in 1924. While exploring the cave, they have found the instrument like stalgiites as well some water springs in it.

There are around five water springs in this location. They are the Sendang Jampi Rogo, Sendang Panguripan, Sendang Relung Jiwo, Sendang Kamulyan and Sendang Relung Nisto.

Gua Gong is about 256 meters long and 20 to 30 meters high. Its width spread around 15 until 40 meters. Not just that, there are the room that shaped like a dome for 100-meter high which make the cave look even more astonishing.  

It will need around 2 hours to tour around the cave. To get in to Gua Gong or Gong Cave you will need to pay for a ticket for IDR 10 K/pax or less than $1. This incredible place will be a nice place to spend your weekend with your loved ones. (*)
