Millennium Bridge Bali, The Biggest Bamboo Bridge Ever in Asia  

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – For those who love some green style living, this bamboo bridge will make your jaw drop. It's the biggest and most beautiful bammboo bridge ever in Indonesia as well as in Asia. The bridge is so called as Millenium Bridge.

Located at Sibang Kaja, Abiansemal, Badung, Bali this bridge was intended to connect the Green School with some other facilities in the area. Green School was the one behind the idea of the construction of this bridge.

This bridge was made by the help of local Architecture company called IBUKU. It was built in 2011 and took 8 month to finish it. The bridge was officially opened for public by December at the same year. And its still standing tall after 10 years. 

It took 192 bamboo, some wild grass and some root od the trees to make this bridge. It is 23 meters long and 70 square meter wide of floor area. It has such stunning buffalo thorn like roof made of bamboo which was inspired from Minangkabau architecture.

"It's very rare to get the chance to build a bridge from bamboo, and it is a proof that you can build anything with it. This bridge is a way to promote construction with bamboo around the world. It's a constructed testimony of its strength', says Defit Wijaya, Senior Architect at IBUKU said back then as written in Arch Daily .

Back then  the bridge was only intended to give some access for pedestrian to go from local neighborhood to Green School or clockwise. But now this Millennium Bridge has been used for some educational purpose and tourism. People come here to admire and beauty as well to learn the right way to construct such magnificent building.(*)
