Caramelized Palm Fruit, Sweet and Simple Appetizer Recipe

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Palm Fruit, which is also known as kolang-kaling in Indonesia, can be enjoyed in many ways. It can be served as a snack, appetizer, and topping for ice desserts.

Ingredients:
1 kg palm fruits
Rice water
500 ml water
5 lime leaves
1 pandan leaf
200 gr white sugar
200gr red dragon fruit
Instructions:

Rinse the palm fruits until clean.

Soak the palm fruits in some rice water for at least 1 hour to get rid of the smell.

In a saucepan, put the palm fruits, pour some water, add some sugar, lime leaves, pandan leaf, and the juiced dragon fruit.

Cook on medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the water thickens.

Turn off the heat and let it cool.

Keep the candied palm fruits in a tightly closed jar. You may also refrigerate it. This appetizer can be kept for up to 2 weeks. (*)
