One More Victim Died from Kanjuruhan Soccer Tragedy, It's Now 135 in Total

TIMESINDONESIA, MALANG – Kanjuruhan soccer tragedy still haunting all the family member of those people treated in intensively in the hospital. In addition, one person amongst two of patient left in intensive care had to give up their live and add a longer list to victim dies for the incident.

Farzah Dwi Kurniawan, a young 20-years-old guy of Lowokwaru, Malang gave up after being treated for nearly 23 days in the hospital. He became 135th victim who died for the tragedy which took place on Saturday (1/10/2022).

The hospital stated that Kurniawan died on Sunday night (23/10/2022) 22.50 local western times. "Yes, he died last night at 22.45," The PR of RSSA Malang Donny Iryan said through a text message on Monday (24/10/2022).

Rumor said that Kurniawan was exposed to Covid-19 while he was charged to intensive room. Her said he was tested positive for Covid-19 right on the day when the president of Indonesia Joko Widodo visited the hospital (5/10/2022). 

The PR of RSSA Malang, the hospital where Kurniawan was treated said that the patient had his last Covid-19 test on October 15, 2022. He was then moved to intensive care room with isolation maintenance. 

Iryan didn’t give a full explanation about the latest condition of Kurniawan before he died. "I didn’t know exactly about his condition (before he died)," he added.
Kurniawan was the 4th victim died in RSSA Malang hospital after being treated for several day with intensive care. Before him there were Helen Prisela (20), Andi Setiawan (33), and Reivano (17).

The hospital explained some of the cause of death for some of the victims. But not to Kurniawan. They didn’t state what was the main cause of them dying. 

As of for now, there wasn't sufficient data that stated the cause of death for all the victims. Though the Joint-Fact Finding team and several other institutions have said that it was all for the tear gas, but the hospital seems never response properly to the question. 

They even haven't done any further investigation about what kind chemical contained by the tear gas deployed during the soccer tragedy in Kanjuruhan. They didn’t collect the substance they get from their patient body. 

"We didn’t do a further check up on the substance. We just focus on what the patient need. And if we do it now, I think it will be too late for the substance is no longer stay in the patient body," the Deputy Director of Service of RSSA Malang, Syaifulloh Asmaragani said on Monday (24/10/2022).

Asides of the victim died in the hospital, RSSA Malang now focus on treating those patients from Kanjuruhan soccer tragedy who came with vision issue. They have conducted further research on what makes most of the hemorrhage in their eyes.

Meanwhile, an anesthesiologist of RSSA Malang dr M Akbar Sidiq said that they have never do further research about the chemicals contain in the tear gas. 

"The report said they only get some issue in respiration and traumatic injury, and the name of the substance causing all the issue never mentioned in any of the report," he said commenting on the report he saw from the victims of Kanjuruhan soccer tragedy he handled. (*)
