Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate is a Corruption Suspect, Sahroni: No Political Nuances

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – The General Treasurer of the DPP NasDem Party, Ahmad Sahroni, ensured that there were no political nuances in the legal case that ensnared NasDem Secretary General and Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G Plate. According to Sahroni, the naming of a suspect against Plate was not a sudden action.

"I don't think this is politically related. But, indeed the legal background that applies to JP has been determined," Sahroni told the media at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (5/17/2023).

As is known, the Attorney General's Office has named Johnny Plate as a suspect in a corruption case involving the construction of 4G BTS towers and supporting infrastructure for BAKTI Kominfo. BPKP noted that the state loss was up to Rp. 8 trillion in this case.

Meanwhile, the corruption funds allegedly enjoyed by Plate are still under further investigation by the Attorney General's Office.

Although there are no political nuances, Sahroni admits that the corruption case that dragged Plate will have an impact on the NasDem Party in the 2024 Election. However, the party will try its best and hope that this problem can be resolved quickly.

"Definitely (influential)," said Sahroni. "We are trying our best in the right corridor and hopefully the storm will pass quickly," he continued. (*)
