Suviyanto, the Head of Consumer Services, stated that all Hajj pilgrims will experience the flavors of Indonesian cuisine during the Hajj season.

"In essence, all pilgrims will be provided with Indonesian menus that have the dozens variants of flavors of common dish they find in the country," he said on Monday (22/5/2023).

He mentioned that the menus served to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims will include several common dishes such as nasi uduk (coconut milk rice), nasi goreng (fried rice), ayam goreng (fried chicken), opor ayam (chicken cooked in coconut milk), rendang ayam (spicy chicken stew), and others.

"Insha Allah, all the Hajj pilgrims' meals will be the same, with no distinction. The 21 catering companies responsible for providing the meals have ensured this," he explained.
All of the catering will served iIndonesian dishes with lical herbs and spices. Some even brought from Indonesia especially for this occasion.

"Not all ingredients, such as rice and fish, are sent from Indonesia. However, condiments like soy sauce, black pepper, and most other spices are sourced from Indonesia," he added.

He explained that all the meals served to the pilgrims are cooked in Saudi Arabia, even though the ingredients are brought from Indonesia in frozen form.

"All the cooking is done here. So, the meals will be served to the pilgrims in a warm condition, even though the ingredients were frozen. Insha Allah, the meals provide sufficient nutrition for the pilgrims," he further added.

He hopes that these service will satisfy the Indonesian Hajj pilgrims. Although not exactly the same, at least the flavors will be close to the authentic taste.
