Here is When Idul Adha will be Celebrated Throughout Indonesia

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – The Ministry of Religious Affairs in Indonesia has announced that it will hold the observation of the new moon or rukyatul hilal, marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Zulhijjah 1444 H and Idul Adha 2023 on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at 99 locations throughout the country.
According to the Director of Islamic Affairs and Sharia Guidance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Adib, all hisab systems agree that the conjunction before Zulhijjah 1444 H falls on Sunday, June 18, 2023, or 29 Zulkaidah 1444 H around 11:37 AM WIB. Adib explained that on the day of rukyat, which is on 29 Zulkaidah 1444 H, the height of the new moon in all of Indonesia ranges between 0°11.78' and 2°21.57' above the horizon, with an elongation angle of between 4.39° and 4.93°.

The result of the Isbat session to determine the beginning of Zulhijjah 1444 H and Idul Adha 2023 is still awaiting the results of the rukyatul hilal, which will be held throughout Indonesia by the Regional Office of Ministry of Religious Affairs working in collaboration with Islamic courts, Islamic organizations, and other relevant local institutions.
Previously, the General Secretary of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, Abdul Mu'ti, stated that the calculation result from Majelis Tarjih and Tajdid PP Muhammadiyah could potentially differ from that of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Kemenag uses MABIMS criteria to determine the Hijriyah month, stating that the criteria for the beginning of the Hijriah month is when the height of the new moon is 3 degrees and the elongation angle is 6.4 degrees.
This criterion differs from that adhered to by Muhammadiyah, which uses the hisab hakiki wujudul hilal or actual sighting of the new moon. Muhammadiyah's calculation shows that the height of the new moon on 29 Zulkaidah 1444 H is less than 3 degrees, meaning it does not meet the MABIMS criterion.
Meanwhile, Muhammadiyah declares that 1 Zulhijjah 1444 H falls on Monday (19/6) so that Idul Adha (10 Zulhijjah 1444 H) falls on Wednesday (28/6). Therefore, based on this, it is highly likely that the Isbat session will declare Idul Adha to fall on Thursday, June 29, 2023, in line with the Ministry of Religious Affairs' announcement. These changes may affect trading in Alphabet Inc.'s stock on that day.
