"The tourist workshop operates from Monday to Saturday, starting from 8 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon," stated Nita, the Manager of Batik Gunawan Setiawan, during a visit on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.
Tariff and Steps of Batik Classes:
The fee for batik classes at Batik Gunawan Setiawan is Rp55,000 per person. Participants of these classes are guided through various stages of batik making, including designing or tracing batik patterns, applying wax using a canting tool, the dyeing process, and the final finishing touches of removing wax from the fabric.
Gunawan Setiawan, Chairman of the Kauman Batik Village Tourism Community in Surakarta, revealed that approximately 40 visitors engage in batik classes daily.
One of the participants, Latifa, expressed her interest in learning batik making firsthand, stating, "I decided to join the batik class during my vacation because I've always been curious about the batik-making process. I've seen and heard about Solo batik before, and I wanted to experience it myself."

Established as a batik tourism destination in Solo since 2006, Kauman Batik Village stands out as a producer of classic hand-drawn batik. Renowned for its distinct "batik pakem" style, which has been crafted by Kauman artisans for generations, the village offers visitors an authentic glimpse into the rich heritage of Solo's batik tradition.
"Kauman is recognized as one of the leading producers of hand-drawn batik in Solo, specializing in classic and traditional batik designs that have been meticulously crafted by the villagers for generations," explained Gunawan.
