Guidelines for Hajj 2024: Key Recommendations for Indonesian Pilgrims

TIMESINDONESIA, MADINAH – Widi Dwinanda, a member of the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Media Center, has provided important guidelines for Indonesian pilgrims undertaking the Hajj 2024. These recommendations aim to ensure a smooth, safe, and spiritually enriching experience.
One of the primary suggestions is for pilgrims to coordinate their mandatory Umrah activities with their group leaders. The Hajj and Umrah Guidance Group (KBIHU) accompanying the pilgrims are urged to collaborate closely with the Pilgrimage Organizing Committee (PPIH) for each group, ensuring organized and efficient performance of rituals.

Health and Safety Measures
To maintain good health during the pilgrimage, Widi advises pilgrims to perform prayers and additional (sunnah) worship in their hotels or nearby mosques. He emphasized that praying in any mosque within the Holy Land holds the same spiritual reward as praying in Masjid al-Haram, highlighting the unique sanctity that extends throughout the entire region.
Widi also recommends limiting repetitive Umrah rituals and long-distance visits from the hotel to avoid exhaustion. Pilgrims are encouraged to conserve their energy for the peak of Hajj.
Protective Gear and Documentation
Pilgrims should protect themselves from the harsh sun by using umbrellas or wide-brimmed hats. Additionally, they should always carry essential documents like passports and other important papers, as well as a shoe bag when visiting mosques to prevent loss or forgetfulness.
Widi stressed the importance of wearing identification wristbands and smart cards at all times. Staying within the group is crucial to avoid getting lost in the large and often crowded areas of Masjid al-Haram or bus terminals. Pilgrims should not hesitate to seek assistance from officials present in these areas if needed.
These comprehensive guidelines are designed to help Indonesian pilgrims have a safe and spiritually fulfilling Hajj 2024 experience. By following these recommendations, pilgrims can focus on their religious duties with peace of mind. (*)
