Indonesian Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia: Hajj 2024 Update

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – As of Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 9:00 PM Saudi Arabian Time (WAS) or Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 1:00 AM Western Indonesian Time (WIB), the number of Indonesian pilgrims who have arrived in the Holy Land has reached 131,513. This significant influx is part of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, which draws millions of Muslims from around the world to Mecca and Medina.

The Indonesian pilgrims are organized into 335 flight groups (kloter). Regrettably, 25 pilgrims have passed away, and arrangements have been made to perform Hajj on their behalf (badal hajj).

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, an additional 20 flight groups comprising 7,912 pilgrims are scheduled to depart for Jeddah. The breakdown of these groups by embarkation point is as follows:
1. **Jakarta Pondok Gede (JKG)**: 880 pilgrims (2 kloter)
2. **Solo (SOC)**: 1,440 pilgrims (4 kloter)
3. **Medan (KNO)**: 360 pilgrims (1 kloter)
4. **Surabaya (SUB)**: 1,113 pilgrims (3 kloter)
5. **Palembang (PLM)**: 444 pilgrims (1 kloter)
6. **Batam (BTH)**: 350 pilgrims (1 kloter)
7. **Makassar (UPG)**: 900 pilgrims (2 kloter)
8. **Balikpapan (BPN)**: 324 pilgrims (1 kloter)
9. **Jakarta Bekasi (JKS)**: 1,320 pilgrims (3 kloter)
10. **Aceh (BTJ)**: 388 pilgrims (1 kloter)
11. **Padang (PDG)**: 393 pilgrims (1 kloter)
The arrival of these additional groups will further increase the number of Indonesian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, with the peak expected around June 10, 2024.
Preparations and Services
Widi Dwinanda, a member of the Media Center of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, emphasized the importance of preparation and services for the pilgrims, particularly the elderly who require special attention. Each embarkation point has been equipped to provide optimal services, covering health care and accommodation needs to ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience.
Continuous monitoring and evaluation are being conducted to ensure that the Hajj process this year proceeds without significant issues.
