TIMESINDONESIA, MADINAH – In the bustling city of Palembang, 79-year-old Cik Lekat Umar's story shines as a beacon of unwavering determination and faith. Known for her unique name and ever-cheerful demeanor, Cik Lekat's journey to perform Hajj 2024 is a testament to her enduring spirit. "My name is unique, just like my journey," she often says with a bright smile.

A resident of Gandus Palembang, Cik Lekat is one of the pilgrims from the Palembang embarkation point. Her gratitude towards the Hajj officials who assisted her is boundless. "Come here, dear. I want to thank all the kind Hajj officers," she says warmly. "Please convey my thanks to everyone; their excellent service made a huge difference for this elderly pilgrim. The senior-friendly Hajj services have truly been a blessing."

Her joy and contentment with the services in Madinah are palpable. Cik Lekat feels immensely cared for by her fellow pilgrims and the entire group, who have shown her nothing but kindness and compassion. "Indeed, the senior-friendly Hajj services are a real comfort," she remarks with a smile.

Cik Lekat's path to the Holy Land has been far from easy. For many years, she harbored the dream of performing Hajj. To turn this dream into reality, she made a significant sacrifice by selling half of her plantation land. "Twelve years ago, I sold half of my plantation. The remaining half is still managed, and the income is shared with my children," she explains.

Her eyes light up with joy as she recounts the happiness of finally reaching the Holy Land. However, the journey was fraught with challenges. For two years, she suffered from a pinched nerve, rendering her unable to walk or move. "I sought treatment everywhere, trying every possible remedy. I was even told to eat grass, and I did it because I was determined to recover and perform Hajj," she shares.

A year ago, her prayers and efforts were answered, though she is unsure which treatment led to her recovery. Now, she can walk and move as she did before. "I'm incredibly happy to have finally made it to the Holy Land, especially after struggling with a pinched nerve for two years," she says.

While in Nabawi, Cik Lekat found it easy to join congregational prayers at the Prophet's Mosque and visit the tomb of Prophet Muhammad. "Allah made it easy for me to perform congregational prayers at the Prophet's Mosque and visit the tomb of Prophet Muhammad," she recounts with deep gratitude.

Cik Lekat Umar's story serves as a powerful reminder that with determination, effort, and faith, even the greatest dreams can come true. Her journey to the Holy Land is an inspiration to many, especially those facing significant challenges in life. May her pilgrimage in Hajj 2024 be filled with blessings and unforgettable memories.
