TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – The Minister of Religious Affairs or Kemenag RI has emphasized the critical importance of wearing masks for pilgrims in the Armuzna area due to the significant amount of dust present there. This has become Minister of Religious Affairs or Menag RI Yaqut Cholil Qoumas concern for hajj each year.

"Wearing a mask is crucial here because of the dust," the Minister said. This reminder comes as part of a broader initiative to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims during their stay in the dusty and often crowded conditions of Armuzna, a key location during the Hajj pilgrimage.

In addition to masks, the Minister advised pilgrims to carry water sprays to help manage body temperature and reduce the risk of heat stroke.

"Using water sprays helps to keep the body temperature down, preventing heat stroke," he explained. This advice is particularly pertinent given the high temperatures and the strenuous nature of the pilgrimage activities, which can lead to heat-related illnesses if proper precautions are not taken.

Recognizing the potential challenges faced by pilgrims, the Minister also proposed that the committee and Masyariq authorities provide water sprays as a preventive measure.

"I will request the committee to have water sprays available, and it would be beneficial if the Masyariq authorities could supply them," he added. This proactive approach aims to mitigate the risks associated with extreme heat and ensure that all pilgrims can perform their religious duties without undue physical strain.

Improved Facilities by Masyariq

During his inspection of Arafah and Mina, the Minister observed significant improvements made by the Masyariq authorities. These include enhanced water availability and accessible toilets for people with disabilities.

Such improvements are vital in ensuring that all pilgrims, regardless of their physical condition, can participate in the pilgrimage with dignity and comfort. The Minister acknowledged the numerous upgrades to facilities, including toilets and tents, which are essential for accommodating the large number of pilgrims.

"Masyariq has made many improvements. Now, we must place our trust in Allah and hope that the Hajj services in Armuzna in the coming days proceed smoothly," he expressed. This sentiment underscores the balance between human effort and divine trust, which is central to the Hajj experience.

With these guidelines and comprehensive preparations, it is anticipated that Indonesian pilgrims will be able to perform the pinnacle of their Hajj pilgrimage smoothly and maintain their health.

The Minister’s focus on practical measures such as wearing masks and using water sprays, combined with the infrastructural improvements made by the Masyariq authorities, reflects a concerted effort to ensure that the pilgrimage is as safe and comfortable as possible for all participants.

This holistic approach aims to address both immediate health concerns and long-term infrastructural needs, thereby enhancing the overall Hajj 2024 experience for Indonesian pilgrims. (*)
