Paundra Hafiz Brings OSSAN Gold Medal to the State Polytechnic of Malang

TIMESINDONESIA, MALANG – Paundra Hafiz, an English student at the State Polytechnic of Malang (Polinema) won a gold medal in the Olympic English Competition at the 2023 National Student Science Olympiad (OSSAN).
For additional information, the National Student Science Olympiad (OSSAN) is a national event held for competition in the field of science at the national level. There are nine scientific fields for student participants, such as Accounting, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, English, Economics, History, and Indonesian. This Olympiad is attended by many participants from the national level to help develop their skills.

"I participated in this competition to practice my English skills," Paundra Hafiz told TIMES Indonesia on Monday (7/7/2024). He also revealed that another reason was to gain experience and strengthen his academic portfolio.
Despite not having any previous competitive experience, Paundra tried his best to prepare everything to make it to the competition. "Every day, I spent one to two hours working on questions as preparation," he said.
His efforts fostered the spirit to strive and perform well in competition. He revealed that the key to his success in participating in this competition was to entrust everything to God and did his best in every test.
Paundra added that the competition is not just about achieving the best results, but also about the journey and valuable learning experience.
Paundra's participation in the Olympic English Competition also gave him a valuable insight into competing at the national level. "I feel proud because I can win gold and bring the name of Malang State Polytechnic to be better known at the national level," he explained.
Paundra admitted that there were challenges that made it difficult for him, such as making time to study by practicing questions in the midst of his busy college schedule and facing unexpected questions during the competition. In addition, balancing academic responsibilities and competition preparation required challenging time management skills. However, she remains optimistic that every step taken in this competition will be beneficial for her future career.
"Every step I took during the competition will be useful for my future," he said enthusiastically.
Paundra's participation in the Olympic English Competition not only shaped his competitive spirit, but also became a valuable opportunity to grow into an individual who is ready to face all kinds of challenges for his future.
